Equator Oh, thank you so much for all the text messages and phone calls ! They cheer me up when everything is great and they comfort me when I have great and tough times. My Dear Reader, it doesn’t mean that I’m brave, I just believe that there’s something more important than fear. That’s all. I’m writing to you from the Equator! Can you imagine it? Ahhhh, I’ve waited so many years to write to you from this place on Earth. Behind Tanasza’s stern 1300 Nm from Hawaii and in front of me 2200 Nm to the first stop in the New Hebrides. Crossing the line that divides the Earth into a Northern and Southern Hemisphere means something special to every sailor as it does to me, each time I cross the Equator. Or maybe when you cross it alone you should start counting all over again? Anyway I have a reason to be happy today, because I’ve spent exactly two weeks on the sea. I started the celebration by taking a shower in the morning. I’ve got a lot of potable fresh...

Wednesday, 10th of August, 2007 So, is it possible that dreams come true? Hm… I’ve just had a bite of an apple bought as supplies on my yacht Tanasza Polska for my cruise around the world… eating it, I wonder how it’s possible that a fruit bought in any Hawaiian market can taste as delicious as fruits I have been lifting from my neighbors’ gardens in Poland (you should know I wasn’t alone though but I won’t mention who I went there with☺). Is it my imagination or life is just beautiful, that’s the question? Or maybe both, maybe I’m just happy…to be finally underway in the middle of the Pacific Ocean. The feeling is even stronger when I think about how much work it has taken and sacrifices I made to be here. There are so many moments behind me full of hope and despair. My poor friends, my best listeners, have been coping with me for years, always talking about the same thing… (Thank you for your patience). I’ve learnt so much about me from the people...

Wow, so here I am. I am 60 Nm East from the most shark - populated gulf of the South Pacific. Palmyra Island, most horrific island I've ever heard of. They say the water is black in color because of the immense density of bloodthirsty monsters, on its shore, the Coconut Crab,50 cm (16-18 inches) wide with its pincers which maybe tasty on a plate but you would never like to meet them in different circumstances. Moreover, on Palmyra Island and right above it thousands of birds make landing impossible and even could crash the aircraft... and so many incredible stories and mysteries are hidden inside it... (I recommend you read a book "And the sea will tell" written by Vincent Bugliosi, Bruce Henderson)... but well, anyway I am here. Since there is a shark there must be fish, right? In the middle of the ocean, beautiful weather, clouds like in The Simpsons cartoon, I got tired of eating instant Chinese noodle soups though it seems there is no other solution but to throw a...

I have a list full of things to do today. I woke up during the night and started writing them down in order not to forget anything. Finding my coffee was at the top of my list(it must be somewhere☺). I scheduled myself to clean the cabin, dig my hat out from the bottom of a bag, change the set up in GPS, sort out little radio problem, get a weather forecast for another three days, tighten the anchor and spinnaker poles on the deck, stow my fenders better, find a strap for my main sheet... with all the chores it was going to be a busy day!!! So to start right I put a music CD on that I got from my friend Szymon and I dropped the lure out. Music sounded good and so I felt like a little dance in the cockpit. When I did I wondered how many of you had lately danced yet before brushing your teeth, hmm? I really wanted to do all the things of my list but shortly after my little party it turned out there was one thing I did not foresee or fit into it my plan. That was a visit. My...
