20th of July, 2009

I was going to go tomorrow, but something turned up. there’s always something.  I fell into despair a bit, but tomorrow is going to be a better day, isn’t it?I think I’ve found a solution to the problem but if you look at it from a different perspective, then it’s not really a problem but rather... an unfavourable situation. I have to deal with it, it’s got to be ok!I met friends from Cape Town (we met also on Saint Helena).   Great, they’re going to give me some paper maps. I’m happy because electronic maps of the Galapagos Islands are not precise. There is a two-cable difference from the reality. I’ll explain everything to the non-sailors when the opportunity occurs. .The weather is going to be wet and the wind is going to be a noser, which means a headwind. It’s not very comfy but at least it’s not going to blow too strong. I’m really looking forward to setting off and you keep your fingers crossed.   I’ve got many books from friends to read during the journey. Cats playing near the showers broke down the shipbuilder’s radio by throwing it down from the cupboard. Today, I also gave an interview to a local newspaper. Eric, its owner, is a very interesting person. He entertained me by telling in a very interesting way about the history of Panama. I’ve learnt a lot and I’m really thankful because how long can you be talking only about yourself :)    Today, I’ve bought myself a new bed. For half a year, or even longer, I kept promising myself I’d buy a new one each time I woke up in the morning with a backache. So far, I’ve been sleeping on a mattress which has already got crumpled so there was nothing like comfortable sleep. I’ve also tried to make a floor bed made from small sponges  slipped which with every move of the yacht, and I ended up with my bones on the floor. But now it’s going to be a great fun. I have two new mattresses. When I get bored with the pink one, I’ll replace it with the blue one, which will be at the bottom. Well, it’s always a change, isn’t it? :)  Tonight, I’ll be testing them. I’m so happy I have them. Sometimes you don’t need much to be happy!
