Mr Schies was my last resort if I wanted to send e-mails while at sea. For two days, I was trying to find the source of the problem: once something couldn’t be installed, another time something couldn’t be uninstalled, later on compression failed, the computer couldn’t find appliances, and so on and so forth. For a while, I was running ashore - getting access to the Internet – and going back on board... checking new ideas, finding them again on the Internet and later on going back on board… Consultations with invaluable Janek and darling Sergiusz were long and knotty for me; plus, bear in mind the difference in time zones - Hawaii, London, the Galapagos Islands... With God’s help it was finally ‘revealed’ that it was the ocean that we should blame, as water had got into my computer and rusted some circuits inside. An expert on yacht electronics, the only one here, by the way – Mr Schies, although very busy, came today on Tanasza and had a look at it. Afterwards, he took my magic box with him, and after an hour I could get it back. He soldered and cleaned whatever needed it, and apparently it should either work properly or never again operate. I wasn’t in a hurry to come back on the yacht to check it -, I was afraid I wouldn’t be able to check the weather forecast or write letters throughout the rest of the cruise…
When I was going back on the yacht I saw that it floated on water differently. It turned out – attention – that a buoy had fallen off – the one to which I’d been tied. Of course that one – what other buoy could it be?! Can you imagine this? It happened to me; from all other ships it happened to mine. It stopped working now that I moored my yacht for a couple of days; Tough luck! However, I was lucky; firstly, my yacht was moored to another buoy at the back so I wouldn’t float to the shore; I would only whack other yachts; secondly, I met my neighbours in the morning – one from each side of my yacht. Carl and Ellio, who saw what had happened, took the line from Tanasza and tied it to the catamaran in front. When I came back, they came to me on a pontoon; and they ‘simply’ repaired the buoy so that I didn’t have to drop my anchor. Ellio dived and Carlos assisted him. I can’t express how grateful I am to them in such a situation…
(I believe that things just ‘happen,’ we should just let them happen. – Ladies and Gentlemen, WU WEI!)
By the way, those endless’ adventures’ that happen to me could stop now; I’ve had enough of them.
And the device? It works! – Super, don’t you think? What a fluke. (Rather a fluke in bad luck?) Generally, I’m awfully glad and grateful to Mr Schies, Janek and Sergiusz for their help.
P.S. Having known my financial situation, Mr Schies helped me pro bono. My thanks to him will never end!
7 p.m. has come.
I was planning to go dancing today; it‘s been ages since I last danced; and here is a great and tiny salsa club; moreover, it is Saturday... but somewhere about 6 p.m. I felt sleepy. It might be because of all the sensations and emotions or perhaps I’m still weary of travel (normally, it takes me a couple of days to get better). So I’m falling asleep listening to the roars of sea-lions…
