Janek woke me up. He brought me a sandwich for breakfast: Truly Polish bread with liver spread and kiwi. Delicious, I ate it half awake, since I barely got some sleep. I had half an hour to get ready to sail out. Adam drove in, Ania got a flat tyre. They are here for holidays. The rest of my friends were at work at the time of my departure (as most decent people would), but we have seen each other off before (more than once;-) )
I sailed from marvellous Darwin on Tuesday, 19th of August 2008, going out through the Cullen Bay Marina lock at 08.00 am. It was tough, believe me, since it didn’t occur to me to warm up the engine before. It was a little windy and I had a lot of “fun” leaving the dock. The short time I spent in the lock wasn’t easy either. I tied the boat to the platform in order to get a shower. Afterwards, I departed. Janek was taking photos and Adam was filming... It was sad to leave since I met the most fantastic people ever on this stop. I feel like I have left my family behind my stern.

I have come through a lot since I left Darwin. I had always something to do and, considering the fact that I slept only 6 out of last 60 hours, trying to be ready to sail out, I am very tired. I am past problems with the top section of a furler (I hope it will finally work after the fix and I will be able to reef the genoa), The AIS didn’t want to work as it was supposed to... and now it is 6am the following day... Not to mention that it was to be 35 knots downwind – instead, I got it in irons... and now it died totally... and so did the engine – in fact, it had been rather weak before, but I thought electricity was the problem (which wasn’t supposed to be present there, or it was, but not of such power,..). Anyway, now I am sure... I will not go to sleep again. Or I will, but on the engine, since you can hardly swing a cat in my engine room, and I need to climb there and check what is wrong... if only the engine was working fine... if only I had a little wind running, if only...
